On the Garonne cycle path

This itinerary on roads and dedicated cycle paths links the Pyrenees to the plain around Toulouse, following the course of the Garonne. On the upper section, you ride alongside a tumultuous river as far as Saint-Gaudens. From there on, your companion becomes a docile river, providing welcome coolness in summer.

There are many places to explore en route : Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, the “sentier ocre” of Saint-Gaudens which leads you through the town centre to see the collegiate church and the museums, Saint-Martory, Martres-Tolosane, Cazères with its half-timbered houses, the bastides of Rieux-Volvestre and Montesquieu-Volvestre along the Arize valley.

Whether you’re with family or friends, there’s an activity to suit you… notably river water sports on the Garonne (rafting, hydrospeed, canoeing…) and on the various lakes in the surrounding area.
